Healthiest Fast Food Alternatives in Las Vegas, Nevada

You're hungry and in a hurry; if you're like most Americans McDonalds or Jack in the Box is starting to look really good and most importantly convenient. Afterall there aren't many alternatives and fast food places have value meals to save money. The truth is fast food restaurants have food that is full of fat that you just don't need and even though you may pay less now you'll pay more in the future when you realize the full consequences of your unhealthy food choices. I gave up fast food two years ago and have been trying to prepare all my meals at home in order to ensure the freshest ingredients and the healthiest preparation possible. But sometimes I just need to go out for a burger or a burrito. In situations like that I want to eat the healthiest fast food possible. I had to do a little research in my area to find them but here are the top three healthy alternatives to fast food in the Las Vegas area.

Zaba's Mexican Grill


Zaba's is the healthy alternative to Taco Bell, Del Taco, and even Chipotle. Their menu offers a delicious and freshly prepared tacos, burritos, salads, and Zaba bowls. Unlike some Mexican grills, they offer you the choice of whole wheat tortillas, brown rice and sweet potatoes in lieu of their white counterparts. You can choose from lean chicken, steak, or shredded beef. For condiments they have an array of freshly made salsas and guacamole; adding veggies and good fats from avocado. Skipping cheese and sour cream help keep your meal healthy and they offer not only diet coke but diet sprite. On average it takes 6 minutes for you to get your meal and be on your way. How's that for fast food? I've gone to Zaba's more times then I can count and I have never been disappointed by the food or the friendly and fast service. Recently they began offering a breakfast menu from 700-1030 featuring eggs or egg whites. It's the little options like that show how important it is for them to emphasize healthy alternatives to fast food.

Evo's-Burgers and Wraps

Evos has a wide range of menu items including burgers and their famous "air-fries", which boast 70% less fat that regular fries. Baked in a convection oven no oil is used and no fat is added to your food. They also offer delicious wraps and unique salads with low fat dressing. The menu includes only three items above 500 calories and most of those items have half the fat of comparable unhealthy fast food options. But nothing about this place could be considered cardboard flavored diet food. It's all real food that's prepared in their open layout kitchen right before your eyes. On average it takes about 15 minutes to get your order and be out the door.

Tropical Smoothie Caf

Tropical smoothie is the kind of places that makes it pretty easy to make the right decisions they have different menu sections for the different options available. From lean muscle builders to bulk up supplements they can add most anything to your smoothie. Choose the splenda or turbinado options to lessen the sugar content. They offer wraps that can be customized to exclude cheeses or extra sauce but even without customization the food they offer is relatively healthy. The average wait is 18 minutes from ordering to eating.

The next time you're in a hurry and considering a fast food pit stop remember that you're worth a few extra dollars and healthy food choice lead to a healthier life. Cutting out excess fat by avoiding fast food chains can help you avoid 50lbs of extra fat in a year. Value meals may cost less today but what price are you willing to put on overall health? These are the healthy alternatives in Las Vegas but I'm sure there are healthy fast food alternatives in your town as well.
