Subway tops list of healthiest fast food kids' menus, Dairy Queen ranks worst

When it comes to healthy eating, not all kids' meals are created equally.

In a recent tally of calorie values at 10 popular fast food restaurants, Subway took top honors for being the healthiest fast-food option, with its average children's meal - consisting of a 3-inch sandwich, apple slices and low-fat milk - coming in at 372 calories.

Burger King, whose newly revamped kids' meal includes healthier options like apple fries and juice, came in No. 2 behind the sandwich chain, with the average kids' meal counting in at 390 calories.

Dairy Queen was found to be the worst offender when it comes to serving up high-calorie options to young diners, according to the Daily Meal.

An average kids' meal from the ice cream chain - complete with a dilly bar, ice cream sandwich or cone - weighs in at a whopping 737 calories, making it the least healthy restaurant of the bunch.

Taco Bell landed a close third, averaging 414 calories per meal.

Chick-fil-A, KFC and Wendy's were at Nos. 4, 5 and 6, respectively.

McDonald's, which recently announced plans to give its Happy Meal a healthy makeover by trimming portions and adding fruit to its menu, didn't fare quite so well, averaging 527 calories.

Also rounding out the bottom of the list was Sonic, with an average 556 calories per meal and Quiznos, at 613 calories.
